My daughter backed her Honda Fit into a cedar fence just scraping paint off the right rear bumper. I got an estimate from the body shop for $998!!! Had rust issues with my car after 2 years in Syracuse NY. Body shop wanted to replace the entire door panel at a cost estimate of $1,500+ -- Ah, NO. Even though I am certifiably TERRIBLE at this sort of thing I took wire brush, several meshes of sand paper, and some carefully applied stokes with my power drill's brush bits to eliminate 99% of the rust and smooth the surface. CLEANED it really well. Put down 4 coats of black Rust Preventer undercoat, 4 coats of your color matched paint (spay can 12oz). Then did three coats of clear coat. This all took no more than 10 hours over two days -- and that included all the drying time. I cannot believe how well it turned out. If I get my nose 12" from the repaired area -- then YES, I can see where I did my work... but while standing up and examining the area in bright sun-light, it looks just like the rest of the car! Thank you... the color is perfect, any imperfections are the result of my limited skills!
