CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1988 BMW (All Models), we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The paint code can be located underneath the hood near the front strut tower, on the firewall, or the passenger side wheel housing. Click here for BMW paint code location chart and paint code label examples.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1988 BMW (All Models) is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Jim, owner of a 1999 BMW 3-Series from Granger

First off, I am not a professional auto body person, just a DIYer. I was very impressed with the color match - it was perfect! The paint was easy to order, just use your vehicle paint color. I did the aerosol base/clear coat route. I watched a lot of YouTube videos on how to prep and finish and then applied the paint/clear coat according to the instructions on the cans. I sanded sanded the clear coat with 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 grit wet paper and then buffed with cutting compound, polishing compound and then finally polishing/wax. I enjoyed the process and the repaired areas are indistinguishable. I am a very happy customer!

Michael R, owner of a 1999 BMW 3-Series Cabrio from Trenton, NJ

Very pleased with the color match for my Stahlblau (paint code 372) 1999 BMW 328. The spray cans of color and clearcoat were just what I needed for smaller metal parts. Excellent product and service.

Grant M, owner of a 1999 BMW 3-Series Cabrio from San Ramon, CA

I love this company! I have had numerous cars from Audi to Volvo and Automotive Touchup has never let me down. Every color sent to me was an exact match for every one of my cars. Best of all is the price that cannot be beat. I have purchased touch-up paint from dealers and felt ripped off, often paying $40. I was so glad when I found the Automotivetouchup site and have since realized significant savings. Cheers to AutomotiveTouchup!
